Director of Multi Family Construction - Southern California

JOB TITLE: Director of Construction

COMPANY: Our client is a private real estate development firm located in Southern California. This division of the company focuses in for-fee development, design and construction of multifamily properties. Their services include but are not limited to design, entitlements and on-site construction management.

GENERAL DUTIES
1. Responsible for the overall construction operations of multifamily projects located throughout California
2.Provide a weekly update at management team meetings
3.Build strong relationships with  sub contractors and third party vendors
4.Prepare required reporting on a timely basis
5. Oversee all field superintendents, schedule, buy-out and performance on all projects.

JOB RELATED DUTIES
Construction Management
1.Assist with the scope of construction or renovation of Multifamily projects (affordable housing, senior living, student housing and market rate). Projects are SOG and Podium Construction.
2.Develop specifications for bid preparation and projects
3.Develop construction budgets
4.Assist in preparation of construction contracts
5.Regular oversight of construction and reposition projects

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFIC SKILLS
1.Minimum Bachelors’ Degree preferred but not required
2.Minimum 5 years of prior construction/construction management experience
3.Experienced in bid specifications, estimating, permitting, entitlements and contract negotiation
4.Willingness to travel occasionally (Central and Southern California)
5.Solid analytical skills  and PC skills
6.Strong written and verbal communication skills
7.Detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
8.Relationship building
9.Must work well and fit in with high integrity and image conscious management
